The Sex Offender Specialist (SOS) Certification Examination is a nationally standardized assessment available to in-person attendees of the SOSO Summit or SOSO BootCamp. The examination validates critical knowledge and applied competencies in high-risk sex offender supervision, investigations, compliance, and community safety. Successful completion results in official SOS Certification and automatic registration in the National Sex Offender Supervision Officers of America (SOSOA).  As a pre-requisite, officers must have attended the in-person SOSO BootCamp or SOSO Summit after 1/1/2026.

Description

This examination is for officers who have taken the SOSO BootCamp or SOSO Summit in-person courses after 1/1/26. Students who pass the examination will certify that the officer is competent in all basic skills and techniques as a Certified Sex Offender Specialist (SOS). The officers who register, monitor, investigate, or supervise high risk sex offenders. The officer will also then become a member of the Sex Offender Specialists of America (SOSOA) which provides professional credibility and demonstrates, again, that the officer is competent to work with this very high-risk and dynamic population. THIS EXAMINATION IS FOR SWORN LAW ENFORCEMENT OR THOSE WHO SUPPORT SWORN LAW ENFORCEMENT.
 
Sex Offender Specialist (SOS) Certification Examination
This online certification examination is exclusively available to in-person attendees of the SOSO Summit or SOSO BootCamp and serves as the formal assessment for the nationally recognized Sex Offender Specialist (SOS) Certification.
